難為了經理

大約一年前, 基於特殊原因, 加入了 director 的 staff meeting, 每星期開會一次。 呢個 meeting, 全是直屬 director 的經理和architect, 小弟以一般工程師身份, 是為異數。 Director 討論嘅當然是 direction, strategis, planning 之類。 我除了畀吓意見, 問吓嘢, 大部份時間是聽的多。 跟這班管理層打交道成年了, 開始明白他們的難處。 開呢個會時, 雖然大家都笑笑口, 但說話時個個也要好小心, 就算講個笑都要唸過計過, 絕不可以無厘頭。 因為一個人的說話, 是代表全組的, 一個錯話, 可能會影響全組形象, 間接影響所有組員。 另外, 久不久有D豬頭骨 projects, 咁 director 要搵人做嘢。呢個時候班經理一係頭dup dup, 一係你眼望我眼, 真係幾攪笑架。 不過可以理解, 接了個project, 咁咪又要交返畀自己組員做。

今日, direction called 了個緊急會議, 想不到是經理們最怕遇到的 — department re-org。 這情況, 做工程師嘅, 若對自己工作效率有信心, 基本上可以問心無愧, 就相信管理層會公平抉擇吧。 但做經理的, 除了自己地位未卜外, 也八成要向一些手下開刀。 那些效率低的冇得好講, 但當組員個個都工作合理, 要落手始終有點於心何忍。 今日呢個會, 經理們便個個都苦口苦面, 唉。

  1. it’s good that you know about it ahead of time! i have been clueless about this kind of stuff or inside politics with current company.

    hmm.. any irregular meeting pattern of our managers may mean something….

  2. Once I am out from the meeting, my other co-workers asked me what’s the insider information. Now I realize, although I’m very much want to tell, but must need to wait for the director’s official message. Otherwise, it will cause more bad more good.
