婚姻新模式

Filed under: 隨想 - 森記 @ 1:38 pm

Finally in official, California accepts same-sex marriage.  Well, for conservative religious point of view, this is probably a super-big event.  Interestingly, it doesn’t seem to draw too much attention in the general public of San Francisco Bay Area.  I guess people in this area are already very open.   From time to time, I see guys and girls holding hands on the street, it is not very unusual.  Anyway, although there are lots to debate about the moral effects of same-sex marriage to the society.  I find one particular debatable topic quite interesting.

Used to be in a marriage application form, there are fields for "bride" and "groom".  But now since both applicants are same-sex, these two English words don’t quite fit, so the S.F. government comes up the terms: "Party A" and "Party B" (and seems like the form will be used for different-sex marriage too).    From legal point of view, bride, groom, party-A, or part-B share any rights equally.  But in general impression, bride and groom seems more equal then part A and B (because B comes after A).  Also, for most serious records related to two parties, there are some English words to describe them.  For example, employer and employee, buyer and seller.  Using Party-A, and Party-B, it just does not seem honor enough for a marriage.  Perhaps people need to come up some new words in the dictionary now.

第三次對決

Filed under: 閒話 - 森記 @ 9:49 pm

This Sunday is French Open, again it is Roger Federer vs. Rafel Nadel, facing off for three consecutive years.   Federer, 26, is already a 12 Grand Slam winner; two shy of Pete Sampras all time record.  It is just a matter of time for Federer to break this record.  However, he is still missing the French Open trophy in his collection.  It is also a dirty mark in his record to claim as the best of tennis history.   Clay court favors physical game, not a strength of Federer.  But his skill is so good that he still reached the final without much challenge each of last three years.  Too bad every year he met Nadal.  Nadal is considerd as the top three in clay court players history.  He has never lost a match in French during his career.  This year, it is unlikely that Federer can beat Nadal.   真係應了一句說話: 既生瑜, 何生亮。
